Iraq Economy

The Iraqi economy with a population of 36 million (Est 2014) ranks 49th in the world with a GDP PPP of 257 billion and GDP PPP per capita of 7,391 vs 53,101 (United States) according to the IMF in 2013. The national currency is issued by the Central Bank of Iraq (www.cbi.iq) which is the Iraqi dinar (IQD). Within the country fixed term and interest rate accounts are called 'time deposits'. The CIA.gov estimates that the inflation rate was 2% in 2013 and 6.1% in 2012.
